PLAY
WDSLA uses the word PLAY to describe projects that provide and support leisure time activities. From existing park renovations, to master planning and design of new public and turnkey parks, designs in this category require a focus on delivering the best and highest uses for public funding in our communities. This focus allows us to balance capitol investment and long-term maintenance costs, meeting current and future recreational needs, while creating unique PLAY spaces that enhance the ability for communities to connect.
Key design fundamentals within this category are based on simple, yet profound assumptions, including:
-
Parks are places of celebration
-
Parks are an outlet for busy, digital lives
-
Parks are sources of inspiration, health and wellness
-
Parks are sources of nature within urban environments
-
Parks are places of recreation, social interaction, and community connections.
